SOUND THERAPY
What is Sound Therapy/ Sound Baths
Sound therapy is the use of musical instruments including but not limited to crystal singing bowls, medicine drums, steel tongue drums, chimes, gongs, tuning forks, guitars, flutes, frequency synthesizers, vocals, and any other sound emitting tool to create a space for healing, restoration, release, and relaxation for individuals or groups of people. When in a state of relaxation and calm, the sounds emitted from the sound therapy tools allow for rebalancing of the energy centers in the body and whole person restoration. Most individuals find sound baths very relaxing and restorative for body, mind and spirit.
How long is a sound bath
Individual sound bath classes/workshops typically range from 60- 90 minutes. Aerial yoga classes which have a sound bath at the end are typically 90 minutes total with a 60 minute movement practice and a 30 minute savsana floating sound bath at the end.
Types of Sound Therapy Experiences
Grounded Sound Bath- typically takes place in a lying down position (corpse yoga posture) on a mat, ground, or massage table and the sound therapy tools are played near the individual or group with eyes closed and awareness resting gently in a meditative, introspective state.
Floating Sound Bath- This is a speciality offering of Summit of Wellness as the individual lies suspended in the air held by the aerial silk while the sound therapy tools are played near the individual or group. This adds to the relaxation and benefits participants find in the sound therapy experiences.
