Southwest Journey Diaries- Part One

Sedona and The South Rim of the Grand Canyon

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Sedona, Arizona with the amazing Sol Health community for a 6-day yoga and wellness retreat. We hiked the four primary vortexes, Airport Loop, Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, and Boynton Canyon during our time there. I was able to explore the beauty that Sedona has to offer both with the group and solo as I began my adventure on my own. In addition to experiencing the stunning vortex hikes, some other highlights from my time in Sedona included visiting the Chapel of the Holy Cross and honoring those I love who have transitioned from this world the next, discovering Lacuna Kava Bar to experience their alcohol-free social space were they serve plant-based wellness beverages, and meeting such a wonderful, vibrant community of beings who shared the exuberant light of this magical place on Earth.

Following the conclusion of my time in Sedona, I began the solo adventure leg of my journey through the Southwest. I was blessed to be gifted my mama’s car to drive back home to Washington form my dad. The connection of having her vehicle facilitate my journey was deeply special and profound in my personal journey through grief and letting go. From Sedona, I navigated through the splendor of Oak Creek Canyon, rolling meadows of wildflowers in Flagstaff to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. As an adult, this was my first time experiencing the wonders the Grand Canyon had to off. And oh my was I in for a treat, I was able to camp in the National Park under the stars suspended from the ponderosa pines and blossoming juniper trees for three nights in the South Rim. I explored Hermits Rest, Mathers Point, take in the natural beauty of wild elk, deer, horses and ravens surrounding me each day, and begin to experience the power of solitude and discovering one’s self more deeply in the quiet of being alone.

I hope you enjoy Part 1 of my Southwest Journey video below. This video shares my perspective of the magical, transformative experience I had during the first leg of my journey in Sedona and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The music for this video was created using a PlantWave attached to a ponderosa pine tree in the Grand Canyon along with a reading of a poem I was inspired to write during the first half of my journey.

Part two of my Southwest Journey will be coming soon featuring story, video, plant music and original spoken word poetry inspired and created during the second leg of my journey to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and back home to Washington.

Till then sending you so much light, love, joy and peace on your own navigation of this journey we are all on together,

Erica
