Now more than ever, we feel the tumultuous energy of the world. It can be easy to allow lower energies to rise up inside us and be overwhelmed by them. Meditation has been a powerful practice in my life and many others experiencing stress and difficulty. As I recently navigated through a transformative season in my life, I was introduced to a Buddhist meditation called Loving Kindness or mettā meditation by Jill Wintersteen, founder of Spirit Daughter.

Metta meditation is a type of Buddhist meditation. In Pali — a language that’s closely related to Sanskrit and spoken in northern India — “metta” means positive energy and kindness toward others.

Since learning, I have practiced this meditation frequently and found it to be impactful in reshaping my feelings towards others in my life and towards the essence of love itself. As I’ve continued to use this meditation practice for myself in moments of personal struggle and for others during sound therapy sessions, its power and impact on the human heart’s compacity for love continues to astonishingly reveal itself. Below is a recording of my interpretation of this type of meditation. Please feel free to listen, download and share it with anyone you feel may benefit. I want to recognize and honor the original heritage of this meditation practice and highlight this is my interpretation of a very sacred and wise practice. If this meditation does not resonate with you, listen to your intuition always. One of my mentors says, “Take what you need and leave the rest.” I find this advice to serve me very well and I hope it does you as well.
